Jersey Central Power & Light EV Driven Program

In June 2022, Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) received approval from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) for its EV Driven Program, which offers incentives and rate credits to support and encourage the development of electric vehicle charging and adoption of EVs in New Jersey.

Under the EV Driven Program, JCP&L is providing a suite of sub-programs intended to significantly expand clean electric transportation in New Jersey and help make the transition to EVs more convenient and affordable. These sub-programs will help develop new EV charging infrastructure in JCP&L’s service territory and support access to EV charging with new incentives and rate credits, which will help cover the costs of installing EV infrastructure at homes and businesses and reduce the cost of charging EVs. The JCP&L EV Driven Program has been divided into three sub-programs as described in the following sections.

Residential

The residential sub-program offers incentives for installation of utility and customer make-ready work in homes that are served by JCP&L. A rate credit program for off-peak charging is also available. Only customers installing qualified Level 2 EV chargers at a residential service address in JCP&L territory are eligible for the incentive and rate credit programs.

For additional information on offerings for residential customers and for a list of qualified chargers, please see the Customer Program Guide.

Multifamily

The EV Driven program also offers incentives towards installation of utility and customer make-ready work on multifamily properties. An enhanced incentive is available for multifamily properties in overburdened communities as well. In either case, JCP&L will incentivize installation of a minimum of two and a maximum of ten charging ports per site. A rate credit program for off-peak charging is also available to multifamily customers.

For additional information on offerings for multifamily customers, please see the Customer Program Guide.

Non-Residential

Non-residential customers can apply for incentives towards Public Level 2 charging, Workplace Level 2 charging, or Commercial DC Fast Charging. A demand charge discount program is also available for commercial DCFC customers. The Customer Program Guide includes more information on each of these offerings.
